When Slash was honored with the creation of a Gibson Les Paul Signature model, we provided the same Alnico 2 Pro humbuckers that he had been using for decades. However, we discovered that the new guitars sounded noticeably different from the originals. This prompted us to take on the challenge of designing a new pickup that would give all his signature guitars the same sound as the original AFD Les Paul. The result is the Slash Signature Model humbucker.

Seymour Duncan employed a different magnet wire and winding specifications, which, when paired with the Alnico 2 bar magnet, produced the perfect tone to boost a stock Les Paul toward the familiar sustain, crunch, and midrange that defined the sound of Slash’s original Derrig Les Paul copy. The Slash humbuckers are hand-built in Santa Barbara, following the same methods we used to create his originals in the 1980s. They feature a nickel silver bottom plate with long mounting legs, single-conductor braided lead wire, a maple spacer, paper tape, and wax potting.
