The ZVEX Ringtone ring modulator LJM03, adorned with artwork by Lisa McGrath, features a variety of controls. Starting from the upper left, there's a switch for selecting sequence, random, or step modes, which determines the function of the left stomp switch. This is followed by a speed control for sequence/random mode, eight individual knobs for adjusting carrier pitch, the left stomp switch for tap tempo entry or manual step control, and the true-bypass stomp switch on the right.

Internally, a trim-pot on the small daughter board connected to the bypass switch allows for adjusting the balance between the ring-modulated sound and the direct guitar signal. The factory default setting is configured for pure ring-modulation.

In sequence mode, activate the small switch in the upper left to set the tempo using the left stomp switch, matching each tap to a channel change. To control the speed with the knob, turn it more than 10% from its last position to assume tempo control. For tap tempo, ensure an even number of taps to initiate; an odd number, like three taps, will not register correctly. Alternatively, switch to random mode with the upper left switch to generate unpredictable patterns. All other functions remain operational in sequence mode.
