Since the Test for Echo Tour in 1996, Geddy Lee has eschewed traditional onstage amps and speakers, opting instead for major household appliances. Renowned for his use of diverse equipment to craft unique layered tones, Geddy has incorporated the SansAmp RBI and/or RPM into his setup since 2001.

In pursuit of a more streamlined and simplified gear setup for new endeavors, Geddy collaborated with Tech 21 to create his own signature SansAmp, the GED-2112. This ambitious partnership aimed to condense a full rack of equipment into a single rack unit, leading to the innovation of Parallel Pre-Amping — utilizing two distinct internal pre-amps operating concurrently.

The Drive pre-amp section, inspired by the adaptable SansAmp RPM, offers a broad spectrum of tonal options. The Deep pre-amp section provides a low-end enhancement for rich, robust tones. The saturation ranges from pristine at lower levels to a harmonically rich, tube-like compression at higher settings. For efficiency, the EQ curve is tailored to Geddy's exact preferences. Users have the flexibility to employ each section on its own or combine them, whether directly to a mixing board or through two separate amplifiers.
