The ’59 bridge model (SH-1) is a vintage output humbucker that excels in rock, blues, and various other genres. Its vintage-inspired coils provide an airy quality, firmly placing it within the P.A.F. family. The inclusion of an alnico 5 bar magnet and vacuum wax potting allows it to work well with lighter guitar strings and louder amplifiers than those typically used in the 1950s. The result is a pickup that delivers plenty of old-school tonal character while offering a brighter top end and a slightly more compressed sound.

The ’59 neck model is one of our most popular pickups due to its versatility. Like its bridge-position counterpart, the ’59 neck is designed in the tradition of the original P.A.F. humbuckers from the 1950s. It features sweet sustain and a warm, full sound, all while maintaining a clear attack. We’ve made a few refinements to modernise the design slightly and make it more adaptable to different styles.

The high end is slightly boosted for improved clarity in pick attack, and the mids are slightly scooped for a smooth, open sound that helps preserve the clarity of individual notes within a chord. While the ’59 neck was designed to pair perfectly with the ’59 bridge, many players also combine it with high-output bridge humbuckers like the JB or Custom. Additionally, it’s a popular choice for humbucker-routed Telecasters.
