The Pearly Gates neck pickup captures all the essence of the original neck pickup from Billy Gibbons’ 1959 Les Paul. It is a P.A.F. with a unique tonal variation, providing more midrange than typical humbuckers from that era. This results in a neck pickup that cuts through with strong, tailored mids while still delivering the open and airy treble attack characteristic of the alnico 2-bar magnet. Combined with a warm, spongy low end, this pickup suits rhythm and lead playing.

Seymour found that Billy’s bridge pickup had slightly more output than most P.A.F.s, contributing to its extra drive, making this pickup truly special. The alnico 2 bar magnet keeps the high-end sounding airy yet focused, while the midrange emphasis adds a distinctive Texas sizzle. It has a unique growl that will enhance any humbucker-equipped instrument.

Hand-built in our Santa Barbara, CA, factory, the Pearly Gates vintage output humbucker pickups feature an alnico 2 bar magnet, a nickel silver bottom plate, and 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options. They are vacuum wax-potted for squeal-free performance. The Pearly Gates bridge is available in both standard humbucker and Trembucker spacing. As with all our P.A.F. style humbuckers, each Pearly Gates is wound on Seymour’s original Leesona winding machine from the early Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, ensuring that unmistakable vintage mojo.
