RFT, ecc82 Valve

The ECC82 is a type of vacuum tube (also known as a valve), often used in audio amplification circuits, particularly in hi-fi audio equipment, preamps, and guitar amplifiers. It's also commonly known as a 12AU7 tube in the United States. This particular tube is a dual-triode design, meaning it contains two independent tubes within a single glass envelope, allowing it to amplify two different audio signals.

The RFT brand is a well-regarded manufacturer of vacuum tubes. RFT tubes, including the ECC82 (12AU7), were produced in East Germany before the reunification of Germany in 1990. These tubes are often known for their durability, reliability, and well-balanced sound characteristics, especially in vintage or collectable audio gear.

Low gain: The 12AU7 has lower amplification (gain) compared to other tubes like the 12AX7, making it ideal for certain applications, such as driving power tubes in audio gear or for use in less aggressive preamp circuits.
Common Applications: Preamp stages in amplifiers, tube-based stereo equipment, and some vintage radios.
Filament Voltage: 6.3V (common for many consumer electronics tubes).

RFT ECC82 tubes are often favoured for their smooth and musical tonal characteristics, contributing to the warm, rich sound typical of vintage vacuum tube amplification.
