Drawing from the renowned preamp of the Parabola™ and Météore™, the Icarus V2.1 enhances the design with multiple gain stages, a smoothly tapered high-frequency control, and the option for buffered or true bypass, all operating seamlessly at 9VDC without the need for noise-generating charge pumps or unnecessary extras.

Exploring the controls reveals three knobs that embody simplicity and effectiveness. The preamp is notably loud and efficient, so it's common to use it at lower settings compared to other light drives or boosts. The GAIN knob adjusts the level of boost applied to the input signal, with the minimum setting allowing just the instrument's signal through, and higher settings producing a pleasing diode clipping. The HIGHS knob modulates the frequency range, working in tandem with the OUTPUT knob, which sets the output volume.

Even with the GAIN turned off, the OUTPUT knob can still provide up to +12db of boost. Therefore, when using higher settings on other controls, you might find it best to moderate the OUTPUT level.
